Hold on, we're half way there

In honor of it being half way through the year, I thought I would give the updates on how we are doing on our goals.
  • Make $2,400 in extra income - We have only made $283 extra in income. I have worked some extra days that haven't been paid out so that number will be a little better than it sounds. It's time to get a move on and get some textbooks listed on amazon.
  • Start a Roth IRA (for me) - Check! We opened a Roth for me with a $500 initial deposit. Now that J has a decent job we need to start contributing regularly to both.
  • Save 10% of our income for retirement - We have only contributed about 6% of our current income. We need to play catch up for the rest of the year.
  • Save for and install a fence - The fence is nearly complete and was paid for in cash. What a great feeling! It ended costing us a little over $1300 after we found out that we were eligible for a 10% discount from Lowe's. So we were about $200 under budget.
  • Stay CC debt free - We have paid the CC in full every month.
I think overall we are doing okay. We do need to step it up a little bit with the extra income from J's new job.
